The hidden costs behind low-priced wheel weight: the battle between quality and price
Benefiting from the growth of global automobile production and sales, the automobile wheel weight industry is also developing rapidly, especially in emerging markets and aftermarkets. At the same time, market competition is fierce, which has led to the emergence of a low-price melee of wheel weights. So, can low-priced wheel weights be guaranteed in terms of quality?
According to our latest customer survey: more than 30% of customers suffered secondary losses due to low-priced and low-quality products.
Customer case
Case 1: Brazilian customer purchased galvanized (5+10)*4 wheel weight products and shipped them to Brazil:
After one voyage, the products were all rusted; they could not be sold and were destroyed upon receipt. (As shown in the picture)
Consequences of wheel weight corrosion: The weight of the corroded and rusted balance block has long changed, so the dynamic balance of the wheel has long been destroyed due to the change in its weight. This seriously threatens driving safety.
Case 2: Korean customer purchased black spray-coated 5*12 wheel weight:
After receiving the goods, the spray coating was mottled and uneven, which affected sales. (As shown in the picture)
Consequences of uneven wheel weight spraying: The actual wheel weight deviates from the nominal value, resulting in inaccurate dynamic balance, increased steering wheel vibration, and long-term vibration that accelerates the wear of suspension components (such as bearings and swing arms).
Case 3: Saudi Arabian customer, purchasing product stick on wheel weight:
After receiving the goods, there was a problem with the adhesion of the tape, resulting in a decline in product sales.
Consequences of poor adhesiveness of the tape: The wheel weight will loosen, shift or even fall off during driving, destroying the dynamic balance of the wheel. When the wheel weight falls off at a speed of 100 km/h = 4g metal projectile is launched, which seriously threatens the safety of the vehicle during driving.
Products cannot blindly pursue price while ignoring quality! When price becomes the only competitive factor, the industry will eventually fall into a vicious cycle of "low price-poor quality-lost customers".
Industry experts predict: There will be a deep reshuffle in the next three years, and 30% of low-end production capacity will be eliminated. Only by adhering to the bottom line of quality can we win the final victory in this transformation.
Although wheel weight is small, it is the "invisible guard" of driving safety.
